Worried about water damage?
This step-by-step guide can help you minimize it!
Don’t Let the Situation Get Any Worse!
Time is of the essence.
If there’s excess water on your property, it’s already causing damage. And the longer you wait, the worse that damage is going to get. That’s why it’s so important to act ASAP!
Here are five steps that you should take immediately:
Step #1: Stop the Water
Find the source of excess water.
Then, if it’s possible to shut it off, do so.
Alternatively, place a bucket under the leak. That may be the only way to contain the flow in some cases.
Just make sure to monitor the bucket and regularly replace it with an empty one. Don’t let it overflow!
Step #2: Remove the Water
Once you have stopped or at least contained the flow of excess water, try to remove as much of it as possible.
There are several ways to go about it. You can use:
- A Shop-Vac wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- A self-wringing mop.
- Towels.
After that, transfer all your belongings from the affected area to a dry area somewhere else on your property. Ideally, you want to move everything, including furniture.

Once you have called us, start drying out the affected area with towels to further mitigate water damage.
Also, if you have floor fans, set them up in the affected area and point them at the wet surfaces. This will speed up the evaporation process.
Step #5: Contact Your Insurance Provider
While you are waiting for our team to arrive, contact your insurance provider, see if water damage is covered by your policy, and get a claim started if possible.
Once we begin working on restoring your property, we will communicate with your insurance company directly to make sure that you get the full coverage that you are owed!
